台灣第一高峰玉山，為世界上少有生物多樣性區域，故被稱之為台灣最重要生命寶庫。主稜脈略呈十字型，南北長而東西短，交叉點為玉山主峰，範圍位居台灣中央地帶。
主要是由黑色板岩、變質砂岩與硬頁岩構成之褶皺山脈，且地層岩石中，多螺蚌貝類化石、生物活動遺跡之生痕化石與波浪影響所產生之波痕漣漪等沉積構造。
玉山在千年前已有人類活動遺跡，如今留下清領時期八通關古道與日治時期的八通關越道路及關山越嶺道路。有玉山守護神之稱的布農族，為南島語系民族中居住海拔最高的族群，擁有最多傳統祭儀與為人熟知的八部合音。
台灣玉山高海拔烏龍茶產於南投縣信義鄉境内，氣候冷涼、長年雲霧籠罩，平均日照短、日夜溫差大，致芽葉苦澀成分較低，香氣淡雅、耐沖泡、具有獨特的風味與香氣。
