雪山是台灣五大山脈之一，而雪山主峰為台灣第二高峰。以雪山主峰為中心，周圍一帶地質岩性皆相似的山塊，稱為雪山地壘，更以六條棱脈匯聚成雪山主峰頂點。
山脈呈東北-西南走向，地質屬變質砂岩，石英含量高、硬度大，故山脈內高山林立。雪山山脈水源地上方為國家森林保護區，水體經千年石英岩層淨化，珍稀而口感純淨。
雪山是泰雅族人的獵區，泰雅人稱雪山為石頭山，描述雪山頂上堆積的砂石塊。紋面是泰雅族特有的文化，只有經過紋面者才可論及婚姻，且無論男女皆穿耳洞並佩戴耳飾。
由雪山山脈支流延綿的湧泉滋潤，蘊育出具有濃郁香甜的紅心芭樂，同時也是枕山人的驕傲，產期約在農曆7月份至翌年的4月左右，最佳的品嚐期為9～12月。
